Charter FAQs

At Phoenix Swim Academy, we’re proud to support homeschool and charter school families by making swim lessons more accessible across the Inland Empire, Orange County, and North San Diego. As a homeschool family ourselves, we understand that navigating purchase orders and charter requirements can sometimes feel overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together this simple guide to answer the most common questions and help make the process as smooth as possible for you.

WHICH CHARTER SCHOOLS CAN I USE?

We are an approved or pending vendor with the following charter schools:

CAN I USE CHARTER FUNDS TO PAY FOR SWIM LESSONS?

Yes! Families can request a purchase order (PO) through their charter to cover tuition for lessons.

Charter funds may only be applied toward students who are actively enrolled in their chosen charter school. Funds cannot be used for:

  • Siblings who are not enrolled in the same or another charter, or

  • Children who are not yet old enough to be enrolled in a charter program.

Each child must be an official charter student with an active enrollment to have lessons covered by their school’s funds.

WHEN ARE PURCHASE ORDERS DUE?

To keep your spot secure, please follow our timeline:

  • By the 15th: Parents must request purchase orders from their charter.

  • By the 25th: All purchase orders must be submitted to Phoenix Swim Academy.

  • Grace period until the 1st: Families who haven’t provided a PO or payment by the 25th will have until the 1st of the month to finalize.

If a PO has the wrong dates or amount, we’ll notify you. Parents are responsible for submitting a corrected PO within 7 days. If the PO is short, tuition will be adjusted; if it doesn’t cover the full tuition, the parent/guardian is responsible for the balance out of pocket.

If no valid PO or payment is received by the 1st, tuition will be charged to the card on file to keep your child’s spot.

DO I STILL NEED A CARD ON FILE?

Yes. A credit or debit card must be on file for every family. Some items (special events, merchandise, late drops, etc.) are not covered by charter funds, so a card ensures your account stays current. Cards will also be used to charge if payment is not received or for Summer enrollments or any enrollment periods not covered by Charter funds.

WILL MY STUDENT BE AUTOMATICALLY RE-ENROLLED EACH MONTH?

Yes. Charter students are automatically re-enrolled in their existing time slot.

👉 Not submitting a PO does not count as dropping lessons. If you want to drop, you must submit a drop request during our portal window of the 4th -24th by 6 pm.

WHAT ABOUT SUMMER LESSONS?

Most charters stop funding during the summer. Summer lessons must be paid out-of-pocket unless your charter provides written approval. We cannot apply “inflated” fall POs to reimburse summer tuition without written permission from the charter.

WHO ARE YOUR INSTRUCTORS?

All Phoenix Swim Academy instructors are certified, background-checked, live-scanned, and trained in CPR, First Aid, BLS, and Lifeguarding. We also specialize in trauma-free, student-led instruction, ensuring a safe and positive experience for every swimmer.

DO ALL CHARTERS FOLLOW THE SAME RULES?

Not exactly. Each charter has slightly different requirements. As a vendor, we must follow each one, and parents are responsible for understanding their charter’s policies regarding vendors and funding.

IMPORTANT: APPROVAL REQUIRED BEFORE STARTING

Charter students may not begin lessons until their charter funds have been approved.

  • If you would like to start right away, you are welcome to pay out of pocket to secure a spot.

  • Please do not schedule your student’s lesson until your charter has officially approved your purchase order and funding.

This ensures your spot is held correctly and prevents billing or scheduling issues.
