Our mission is to provide a safe, supportive, and empowering swim experience for individuals with special needs. With over 30 years of hands-on experience and a team trained through individualized, student-centered instruction, we meet each swimmer where they are — helping them build confidence, master water safety, and find joy in the water at their own pace.

🌊Phoenix Swim Academy is Southern California’s leading provider of adaptive swim lessons for individuals with special needs. With over 30 years of hands-on experience, we proudly serve children and adults with autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory challenges, physical disabilities, and other developmental or cognitive conditions.
💛We are the #1 recommended swim school by many local Financial Management Services (FMS) providers and regional center coordinators. We proudly support clients through Inland Regional Center (IRC), San Diego Regional Center (SDRC), and the Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC).
🧡Our team works closely with Self-Determination Program (SDP) families and their coordinators to provide regional center-funded swim lessons that are safe, supportive, and personalized.
☀️Each of our instructors receives individualized, hands-on training in adaptive aquatics, including sensory-friendly strategies, nonverbal communication support, and skill modifications tailored to each student’s needs. All team members are CPR-certified, water safety trained, and mentored directly by April Mate, co-founder and expert in special needs swim instruction since 1996.
👋🏼We also have multiple team members fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) to support our Deaf and Hard of Hearing swimmers.
🗺️Families travel from near and far to access our trusted adaptive swim program. Many drive 30 to 50+ miles to train with our experienced team because they know real progress happens here.
📍Yorba Linda Location
Our Yorba Linda swim program supports families across Placentia, Brea, Fullerton, Anaheim Hills, La Habra, Orange, Villa Park, Tustin, and Eastvale.
We also welcome families from Chino Hills, Diamond Bar, Walnut, and the San Gabriel Valley.
📍Menifee Location
Our Menifee swim school welcomes swimmers from Murrieta, Temecula, Hemet, Perris, Wildomar, Canyon Lake, Lake Elsinore, Winchester, French Valley, and Moreno Valley.
We also serve families who drive in from Fallbrook, Oceanside, Vista, Escondido, and other North San Diego County communities.

MENIFEE LOCATION
OUR MENIFEE LOCATION IS LOCATED AT A PRIVATE RESIDENCE THAT IS LICENSED BY THE CITY OF MENIFEE. THE POOL IS HEATED TO 90 DEGREES & SALTWATER
OUR POOL IS LOCATED INSIDE A LARGE GREENHOUSE THAT KEEPS IT COOL IN THE SUMMER & WARM IN THE WINTER MONTHS. WE HAVE A PRIVATE CLIENT BATHROOM AS WELL.
OUR MENIFEE LOCATION ALSO HAS GOATS & CHICKENS THAT YOU CAN PET & FEED.

Yorba Linda Location
Our Yorba Linda location is located at Peacock’s Learning Center and offers a private, purpose-built
swim training environment designed for real progress.
Phoenix Swim Academy Yorba Linda features a private, swim-school-only entrance, providing
families with a dedicated arrival and departure experience — no shared playground traffic, no
crowded walkways, just direct access to the pool deck.
The pool is heated to 90° and uses UV filtration for cleaner, healthier, crystal-clear water.
Though outdoors, the deck is fully equipped for year-round comfort with:
- Patio heaters on deck
- Covered observation areas in cooler months
- Shade structures for swimmers and spectators in warmer weather
On-site amenities built specifically for swim families include:
- Indoor baby changing areas
- Private on-deck changing rooms
- A full-size private restroom — no gym bathrooms, no toddler-sized fixtures, no shared facilities
This location is intentionally structured for focused instruction, efficient transitions, and consistent
swimmer development — because this is where real swimmers are built.
